Old M3 vs. 2014 M3

RENDERING VS. REALITY

We created our rendering back in September 2013, and despite not seeing much of the actual model, it was not too hard to decipher what the new M3 would look like. All we had to do was take the revised 3 Series Sedan and add in the typical M elements, like the five twin-spoke wheels, an aggressive front apron and hood and some ground effects. Comparing our rendering to the actual leaked images shows that our artist was on the money with his vision of the M3.

EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR

The new BMW 3 Series came with big changes. For the first time, customers will receive a hatchback model inspired by the 5-Series GT
. The redesigned front end features to-the-grille headlights and a forward-leaning kidney grille, and the M3 will carry this along with it.

The elephant in the room in terms of changed for 2014 is that the M3 Coupe is gone, having been replaced by the M4 Coupe, and in its spot in the 3 Series lineup is an M3 Sedan. This will be the first time we get to see the M3 with four doors since it received the axe following the 2011 model year.

As for its exterior design, the future M3 combines design elements from the recently launched Z4 , the 5 Series and the 7 Series . It is slightly larger in size that the last M3, but with shorter front and back overhangs for added stability and a planted look.
