Lamborghini has announced a new GT3 motorsport program , in which a long-term agreement has been reached to create a new car for the 2013 season and 2014 .
The new GT3 car will be named the Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 FL2 , which was developed by Reiter Engineering of Germany in collaboration with motorsport R & D department of the Lamborghini .
" We are very pleased to announce this partnership for 5 years with Reiter Engineering , as the exclusive partner for the development and suppy for Lamborghini GT3 cars , " says Stephan Winkelmann , President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini , in a press release on January 28, 2013 .
Based on the Gallardo for the year 2013 , a new focus for the development of the GT3 FL2 is a long distance performance , including strong brakes to be used for 24 hours non-stop , enhanced engine cooling system , and fuel consumption is less. The car has a very efficient aero kit , a new front splitter , a rear diffuser made of carbon based on the cars for the Super Trofeo , and the power to weight ratio is better, where the GT3 FL2 25 kilograms lighter than the previous Gallardo GT3 .
The new GT3 car that has been shown to have a smaller running costs , create new standards with only 9 Euros / km to 12 Euro / km for the spare parts that should be replaced . FL2 GT3 will have a price of 320,000 euros plus taxes yet .
Reiter Engineering have made a GT version of the Lamborghini car itself since 2000 , they have achieved 199 victories and 350 podium positions in the GT Championship since 2007 . But this is the first time they do an official collaboration with Lamborghini . The first delivery of the Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 FL2 on racing teams in Europe and Asia will begin in March , to be used in the race Blancpain Endurance Series , Asian Le Mans Series and the Italian GT3 Championship , " We want to demonstrate the power of our super sports cars from the road to the circuit , "said Stephan .
