A roadster designed the way only BMW can: the classic proportions of the stretched bonnet and short overhangs are complimented by the low seats near to the rear axle to grant the driver a perfect feel for the road. The modern shape, an interplay of striking contours and soft mergers, fully captures the character of this vehicle from its characteristic kidney grille to the powerful wheel arches at the rear. However, it's the way this roadster effortlessly negotiates straights and bends that makes it truly like no other.

Design Pure Traction.

A question of expression. And of power. The Design Pure Traction brings the BMW Z4 to dynamic perfection. Selected design elements expertly pick up on the design of the roadster and underscore its athletic character in distinctive ways.

The exclusive paint finish in Valencia Orange* erases any doubts: this roadster is extremely sporty. And uncompromising in its urge to get ahead. The expressive colour precisely highlights the lines of the bodyshell, while the retractable hardtop in black paint finish adds a strong contrast and makes the classic roadster silhouette recognisable even when driving with the roof closed. 19-inch M light-alloy wheels in a five-armed double-spoke design.

The two-tone look is carried through to the interior where it dramatically demonstrates the dynamics of the BMW Z4 Roadster. Alcantara in orange combines with black leather; high-gloss surfaces in black Piano Finish counter the orange contrast stitching on the leather equipment. The three-dimensional high-tech look of the interior trim in ‘metal mesh’ backs up the sporty character package’s sporty claims and harmoniously rounds off the Design Pure Traction.

The 4-cylinder petrol engines sDrive20i and sDrive28i with innovative BMW TwinPower Turbo technology boast impressively high dynamics and efficient consumption.

While the fully-variable valve control Valvetronic and the direct petrol injection lower consumption, the TwinScroll turbocharger and the double-Vanos increase performance and response. The figures speak for themselves: the BMW Z4 sDrive28i is capable of a powerful 180 kW (245 hp) and accelerates the BMW Z4 Roadster with 350 Nm from 0 to 100 km/h in a rapid 5.7 seconds – with consumption of 6.8 l/100km and CO2 emissions of 159 g/km.

The BMW TwinPower turbo sDrive20i delivers an equally impressive performance: the 135 kW (184 hp) drive train uses 6.8 litres per 100 km and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds. CO2 emissions are only 159 g/km. The BMW sDrive18i is just as economical. The BMW TwinPower Turbo engine consumes 6.8 l/100 km and has CO2 emissions of 159 g/km. 115 kW (156 hp) accelerate the BMW Z4 Roadster dynamically through the entire rev range from 0 to 100 in just 7.9 seconds.

All petrol engines in the BMW Z4 already meet the requirements of the EU6 emission norm that comes into effect in 2014.
